Nature makes Maine beautiful. We're committed to helping protect it. As a waterfront community with some of America's most diverse eco-systems, we promise to conduct our business with environmental responsibility at its core, and to actively address the climate crisis through sustainable practices.
Green as a way of doing business

PASSIVE DESIGN
Our Shoreside Rooms were designed with passive design principles, including thoughtful roof overhangs to reduce energy consumption.

MAINE'S FIRST COMMERCIAL GRASS ROOF
Our Shoreside Rooms have the first ever grass roof on a commercial building in Maine.

LOCAL INGREDIENTS + VEGAN BY DESIGN
We try our best to source ingredients locally and always have vegan-forward dishes at our restaurant.

NATIVE PLANTS
Our gardens were designed with native plants to significantly reduce the need for watering, and our impact on the seacoast's habitat.
Sustainability features and partnerships

CLIMATE-NEUTRAL CLEANING PRODUCTS
We use climate neutral certified, USDA bio-based, zero single-use plastic refillable cleaning products from Blueland to clean our indoor spaces.

electric vehicle charger
We were one of the first local businesses to install an electric vehicle charger.

LOCAL COMMERCIAL COMPOSTING
Our food waste and compostable packaging — like from our in-room coffee — is commercially composted with a local partner.

CLEAN THE WORLD PARTNER
We partner with Clean The World to recycle, process, and donate toiletry products to international non-profits.

BAMBOO PAPER PRODUCTS
We've cut our paper product usage in half, and use bamboo paper from responsibly managed forests.

SOLAR-POWERED SPA PRODUCTS
The product range used at The Spa House is certified organic with ingredients grown on solar and wind-powered organic farms.

GREEN ALLIANCE MEMBER
We're a member of the local Green Alliance, a group of businesses committed to real sustainability.
